About

Kate Mulvany's modern Australian classic in a new version for this 2024 season. This is an intimate, brash, and poignant family drama, brimming with comedy and tension as three family members navigate finding new life amongst the rubble of old wars.

Rose Maloney is a writer ready to pen her story.

Her father, Danny, is a Vietnam veteran still managing the effects of war.

Danny’s father, Brian, is an IRA soldier.

Today is their collective birthday.

Armed with a dictaphone and a head full of questions, Rose travels with Danny to Brian’s home in Nottingham to discover where and what it is she has truly come from.

The Seed digs deep into the depths of heritage and resilience.

★★★★½ Insightful, bittersweet, bluntly honest, and filled with necessary
humour, the poignant play takes you on a whirlwind journey from
crayfishing in Geraldton, to the Australian soldier experience during
the Vietnam War and the historical unrest in Northern Ireland and
England.
